Meet the couple that make all the magic happen at LPH!

Gail

Gail has been a keen club photographer for 20 years and achieved her LRPS in 1991. She is also an Honorary life member of Edmonton Camera Club.

Gail was a senior executive with BT, her first degree is in Environmental Science and she has a Masters degree in Telecoms and Business Management.

She is now is responsible for the catering, administration and smooth running of LPH and providing the taxi service for Emma (14) and Michael (7)! Gail has completed, with distinctions, a Certificate in Professional Cookery specialising in vegetarian cooking.

She is involved locally and is now Chairman of the Governors at Braithwaite Primary school.

Apart from photography, her main hobbies are ski-ing, swimming, cycling and walking and she is currently training for the Cockermouth Triathlon in June 2010.

 

 

John ARPS, AFIAP, DPAGB, BPE4*


John Gravett is a professional photographer with over 25 years of experience. He is recognized as one of Britain's foremost landscape photographers and as one of the top photographic tutors. He is the photographic partner of Lakeland Photographic Holidays, based in Braithwaite, near Keswick, where, since 1999, he has inspired over 300 photographers per year in the art of landscape and nature photography in the Lake District.

In the 1970s, John started his photography by focusing on concerts and sports photography, he achieved his first ARPS (Associate of the Royal Photographic Society) in sports photography. During the 1980s', John became an architectural photographer based in London, and was the official photographer on the rebuild of Windsor Castle. He achieved a second ARPS in architectural photography.

John held his first exhibition in the early '90s in Southgate, London. This was followed by the Millennium exhibition at the Theatre by the Lake and a further exhibition at the Borrowdale Information Centre in Seatoller during 2004.

In 2002 he achieved the Distinction of the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain, this was followed in 2007 when he became an Artiste of the International Federation of Photographic Art. John competes in national and international exhibitions on a regular basis and has achieved over 200 acceptances in British Photographic Exhibitions achieving his fourth crown in 2008.

John’s latest exhibition at Thornthwaite Gallery launches a new phase in John's photographic career with a set of 15 limited edition prints, starting on the 6th November 2009. This is supported by 10 new Christmas cards which will be sold in 3 locations in the Keswick area. During 2010, John will be holding a Black and White exhibition at the Theatre by the Lake which will be supported by a new book.

On a weekly basis, John guides photographers of all ages and abilities through landscape photography in the Lake District, demonstrating a range of photographic techniques to master the art of photography. John is recognised as one of the leading photographic tutors in the country, and is a regular contributor in the photographic press, as well as exhibiting both in the UK and internationally.
