There is something magical about the classic simplicity of the black and white image. Once the preserve of darkroom workers the black and white photographic course now concentrate on getting the best out of the digital medium. Our photographic course takes students from the initial image capture through editing in PhotoShop and on to profiling and printing, maximizing quality at all stages of the digital workflow.
This five night four day photographic course splits itself in two, with two days in the field photographing the best that the English Lake District has to offer and two days dealing with the practice and theory of the digital workflow.
Days Out
The photographic course days in the field are designed to give guests the opportunity to capture the best possible image files to work with, including the use of filters where necessary. In making sure that all the images captured have good shadow and highlight information throughout, guests will be able to make the most of their images when processed.
Days In
Practical black & white photographic course days are spent with a mixture of informal lectures from John, mixed in with practical hands-on sessions where guests can experiment and practice under John’s ever-present guidance. This ensures that guests fully understand and can implement whatever John has taught them. One of the overriding features of the time spent in these workshops is the development of a logical and repeatable workflow.
The price is £695 for the 5 nights, inclusive of accommodation, tuition, food and excursions - only alcoholic drinks are excluded.
