Marrakech Photo Workshop

29th November 2011

Small but perfectly formed – A group of only three photographers joined us on the long- weekends workshop in Marrakech – our last photography course of the year. Dennis Durack, Jim Jenkins and Chris Welch braved the Moroccan roads to spend four days with me in the red city.

Final UK Workshop

24th November 2011

I can't believe we've just had the last guests of the season in the Lakes – the ridiculously warm weather hasn't helped, but the year has flown by. And what a last workshop, thanks to Kevin, Dave, Cliff, Michelle, Trevor, Gill, Chris and Harry for making the year end with a bang! Kevin spent the last 11 days of the season with us and hardly had a drop of rain – although Michelle, all the way from Jersey for a 4-day workshop – claimed she brought the better weather.

The Penultimate Workshop

21st November 2011

Can't believe the penultimate workshop of the year has just finished – 2011 seems to have flown by. Amazing week – mid November, and temperatures hovered around the 13 degree mark. This time last year we had a snow covering, and two years ago we suffered 13" of rain in one day.

Didn't put Duncan off – he returned this year for the same week and has already booked the same week next year. Our group was again a good mix of 6 regulars and 4 first-timers, who gelled as a group very quickly – and all went out together on the two non-escorted days.

15th November 2011

Another week gone, and a great group.

Mike came for his third week of the year, Paula and Guy managed a return trip after 10 years, and two supposed beginners, Sue and Tony visited with some trepidation. Julia, Liz and Sue, all from the south coast, and some from Birmingham and suburbs.

A great mix of regulars and first-timers, and the weather was kind, though unusual at times. Monday dawned clear and cold, with frost in the shadowy areas, we started at Ashness landing stage, and continued on to a spectacular Watendlath, with calm water on the tarn.

First Blog

OK – so here I am, writing my first blog on our website! I'm hoping to write a short blog every week of the season (only 3-weeks left this year), to talk about who came, what we did, where we went etc! I hope you'll find it of some use, and get in touch – I'm happy to write about anything you want as well, so don't be shy!

In the last month I've written a couple of new articles for Ephotozine, in their Photo Month section. The first was on photographing towns and cities at night, the second on autumn in the Lakes.
